FirstGen Mentors is a youth-led organization dedicated to supporting first- and second-generation immigrant American students in exploring potential career paths. Our resources include personalized mentorship sessions with professionals in students’ chosen industries, live Q&A sessions with industry experts, and a comprehensive database of college and career preparatory materials.
Our mission is to help end cycles of generational poverty for first-generation students who lack access to social, educational, and economic resources.

All students are welcome to use FirstGen’s resources, including the individual and group mentorship sessions. However, the program is targeted toward high school and college students who are first- or second-generation individuals seeking mentorship in their academic and career paths.
Some resources are specifically designed to benefit first- and second-generation students, and may be unhelpful for other demographics.

Mentees are paired with experienced mentors in their field of interest. Together, they work on setting short- and long-term goals, navigating academic challenges, exploring career opportunities, and building professional skills through a virtual meeting.

We ask mentors to commit to at least two hours per month for meetings with mentees, along with occasional program-wide Live Q&A Sessions or interviews for the FirstGen Podcast.
